I didn't get much sleep last night. I'm not sure exactly why. I was up until the wee hours talking with the girlfriend - she couldn't get to sleep either. We both take pills for this problem - it's annoying when they don't work. I managed to squeeze in maybe three hours, plus another hour after I drove her to the metro for work. After that I went to go see Barack Obama at UMD. Long story short, I forgot about my Kershaw pocketknife and my choices were A) lose the knife or B) call the more than a hour I spent in line a waste. I went with B - this blade was forty-seven and I'm gonna vote for the guy anyway.
In all seriousness, this is the twenty-first century. Why the heck can't the pocket-checker-people slap an RFID tag on my blade and let me come back for it? I realize I should have just left it at home, but I wasn't planning on stabbing anyone - and quite frankly, I could kill a normal-sized person with my bare hands rather easily. Not that I would, mind you - I don't think that sort of thing is proper. My point is, the knife just isn't a big deal.
Anyway, I'm not going to call it a total waste. I kept Adrienne's roommate Katie company in line. And I did have a bit on an adventure getting back to the Courtyards apartment. Did I mention I have no sense of direction, even while fully awake? Alone, sleepy, freezing, in an unfamiliar place, and still I managed to get back in one piece. I think I can call that a win.
The girl wants to go to this protest tonight concerning this place called College Perk. The city council wants to shut down the little bohemian coffee/booze joint because they aren't paying a liquor license fee. College Perk's management claims it's an illegal tax. I kind of wish I were still taking a paralegal course so I could ask a lawyer or judge about this case. I'm not anti-tax, but I am anti-double tax. I wish I had more time to research the issue, but I figure I'll just go anyway - when in doubt, I'm against the Man. Besides, a guy at the Perk gave me a free drink yesterday. Nice people should get to keep their jobs.
Life is not a race, so why are we rushing?
Romney is dropping out? Crap. I was actually rooting for him.
Despite what Warren Ellis thinks, I'm reasonably certain Huckabee just won't get enough votes. McCain is the threat. Make no mistake, John McCain is a threat. And I felt Romney was just slimy enough to smear the guy.
Crap. Now what? MD-VA-DC seems to be the Big Prize for the Democrats. You and I both know DC is Obama's. Now I have to wonder - what's in the hearts of my fellow Maryland Dems and our Virginian brothers and sisters? I'm pulling for Barack - he may not have the level of experience some would prefer, but I honestly think he A) gives a damn what happens to this country and B) might just be smart enough to get the USA out of this quagmire we're in.
Hillary Clinton just doesn't do it for me. Bill's a great guy, don't get me wrong, but... he's still a politician. I seem to recall him saying a few nice things about Shrub, and that's way more than I have to say about him. The only thing I can possibly say in favor of our idiot President is that he might, just might have a bit of a clue about immigration. But I'll never trust him. Hunter S. Thompson, that fantastic madman, said he'd vote for Richard Nixon rather than George W. Bush. That means something to me.
Getting back on point, I just don't like Mrs. Clinton. Too much Hawk. Too much doublespeak. Maybe too long in the saddle, too many hands to grease with baksheesh. I need something fresher in the White House. I need a guy who thinks about nonproliferation and genetic testing lab regulation. I need a Black American in the Oval Office to prove to the rest of the world that the United States of America is not a country completely comprised of neo-Puritan racist bumpkin fanatic Intelligent Design-espousing jackasses. We've got those, sure. But they are not the majority. They're just loud, stupid, and devoid of ethics.
I'm voting for Barack Obama. I hope my home does the same. But I'd also like it if the actual majority - the apathetic - get out, do a bit of research, and vote their consciences.
Is everyone still alive?
I'm not sure what just happened.
I want a power supply tester. I think that would be a handy tool for a guy who fixes, builds, tests, and maintains computers on a semi-regular basis. Of course, I am the sort of person who sees tools and thinks "me want" for no particular reason beyond a masculine desire for preparedness. I also want a pack of anti-static bags - you'd think I'd see that particular item at the computer show in Timonium I attend - because I have an abundance of older working graphics cards I'd like to be able to store safely. Also, I am fond of Faraday cages.
I have been spending drastically less time on the Internet, and I haven't been reading much tangible media either. I see Obama won South Carolina. Good, good. What else is going on? I feel as if I've completely lost sight of the train tracks.
As a completely hypothetical question, where do women go on the Internet to buy fun underwear? I don't mean sexy lingerie type stuff. I'm talking panties with little monkey faces, or dinosaurs, etc. I figured there would be a Busted Tees-type place with a large variety of options, but I can't seem to find a decent solution. A friend of mine told me to look at Kohl's, but being a large bearded male I feel a bit of trepidation at the thought of walking into a store to peruse ladies' undergarments. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated on this matter.
